Recombinant Human Platelet Derived Growth Factor (rHu PDGF) is a mitogenic peptide growth hormone carried in the alpha-granules of platelets.

PDGF is released when platelets adhere to traumatized tissues. Connective tissue cells near the traumatized region respond by initiating the process of replication. rHu PDGF-AB produced in E. coli is a heterodimeric, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain that contains 234 amino acids consists of a 14.3 kDa alpha-chain and a 12.1 kDa beta-chain, and has a total molecular mass of 26.4 kDa. |
